Cheating is defined as achieving what you want in fraudulent ways or bending and breaking the rules to gain advantage of something. This definition is unclear when describing cheating as it relates to relationships or why do men cheat. The boundaries of cheating must be defined in the relationship and it is usually affected by culture and the preferences of each individual in the relationship. Gender is no longer a factor of who will and will not cheat. Although, men tend to cheat more than women per statistics, women nowadays are trying to behave in the same way as men regarding cheating. However, for the sake of this article, we will focus on the question of why do men cheat? For some men being unfaithful is a game. They want to experience how many women they can sleep with regardless of their current relationship status. These types of men have hidden insecurities that cause them to sleep with multiple partners as a way of validating their masculinity. This is a poor excuse but some men have these issues and insecurities that encourage this behavior.

Why do men cheat and what are the factors affecting it? Or what causes them to behave in this way? First, we have to establish that there is no one reason why a man cheats. There are always variables surrounding this behavior in men. And each man is different. Let’s not make the mistake of categorizing the reason for the whole, based upon reasons of the few. Each situation is unique in kind. Therefore, you will have to view each situation on a case by case basis. There is no universal reason that you can ascribe to this behavior in men. Cheating is not always driven by the shortcomings of the partner, however, it is a decision made based upon a particular moment or moments. Or it is based upon situations or circumstances. Whatever the reason is, you still have to ask the question. When men rationalize being tempted to cheat, can this behavior be resisted? Is weakness an acceptable reason of why men cheat? Cheating is a form of betrayal. The fact that a woman can give everything and does anything to make a man happy and still be subjective to his unfaithfulness is reason enough for us to believe that there is a deeper, innate meaning as to why men cheat. And these reasons are insecurities and inner conflicts.

Is loyalty really dead these days? Cheating can destroy relationships because not everyone can forgive, and trust again. Once the trust has been betrayed it is difficult to get it back, and the process of rebuilding becomes very difficult. So in light of these facts, still why do men cheat? They know that it is a hurtful and dishonest thing to do to a person who you are in a relationship with, but yet they continue to do it without worrying about the consequences. These men often feel like there are some areas in their life that are not enough or lacking, and cheating is their way of compensating for that lack. Again, a poor excuse for compensating their inadequacies.
These men may also be experiencing a lack of confidence or self-esteem. They may use cheating as a channel to build confidence and self-esteem. Some men are overly confident and conceited. They have the looks and confidence, and they believe that they’re God’s gift to women. So they end up exploiting that trait by sleeping around.
Find out why men really pull away…
Some men cheat because they’re bored with the same routine in the bedroom with their partner. There’s no spontaneity anymore. There’s no excitement anymore. He’s no longer being stimulated by her. She no longer turns him on. She no longer builds him up, but instead criticizes him and tears him down. She comes to bed in the same rag tag pajamas with the same old scarf on. He expresses his needs and desires to her but she continues to ignore him and treat him like a child. As a result he withdraws and retreats to his cave where he’s safe and secure and away from her. He retreats and withdraws mentally, not physically. It is in the cave that he begins to contemplate going outside of the marriage or relationship for validation.
There are many reasons why men cheat. In my opinion they are not justified or excusable. Although, some men will tell you I cheated because I wasn’t getting any sex from her. Or I cheated because she cheated on me first. Whatever the reason, it is not right. If it gets to that point in the relationship, maybe it’s time for the relationship to end.
